Yamaha Unveiles New Three Wheeler Scooter, Tricity

Yamaha has unveiled a new three wheeler mobility solution for the traffic snarled roads of today in Thailand.
The scooter named Tricity will be launched in the summer of 2014 in European markets and will be priced at 4000 euros (Rs 3,34,278). The front wheels don't look out of place and smoothly integrate in to the bodywork.
The Tricity gets a big windscreen and has a good amount of luggage space under its seat, enough to carry a full-sized helmet making it a practical urban runabout.
The Tricity has good agility thanks to its cleverly thought out design and the parallelogram link system that maintains the distance between the twin front wheels even while taking a turn.
Yamaha says that riders can lean the Tricity like they would with a regular two-wheeled scooter.
The front has 14-inch wheels while the rear gets a 12-incher.
This tri-wheel scooter has a Unified Braking System , which applies braking power to the rear and front wheels simultaneously when the left lever is pulled, similar to Honda’s Combi Braking System .
Power is derived from a fuel injected 125cc, liquid cooled, four stroke engine, which Yamaha claims will give good low speed lugging power and smooth high speed operation. The power is sent to the tarmac via the rear wheel through a CVT transmission.
The possibility of this scooter being made available in India is bleak as the masses won’t take kindly to this novel concept especially with its hefty price tag.
